'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith renews battle with City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he reminisces about the dramatic closing stages of Swansea's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The game culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles after the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range strike from distance, and Cameron Burgess quickly slammed home the deflection before charging toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with fans congregating around the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The result completed an extraordinary turnaround given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 during the second half. In the delirium, there was some minor mishaps. He shared, "There was a spectator trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as players but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory booked a next round fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's volley from about way out going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've credited him for having a go from that far out," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before moving to right wing-back after Orient changed tactics. That meant facing off against City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the player was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way Orient approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," Galbraith says. "It appears that they always find their target and they know how to manage and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even seeing. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It takes a strong mentality and attention just to keep pace."

Welsh Transition

Swansea sought to acquire Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a popular figure across multiple campaigns at his former club and has swiftly replicated that in south Wales. At the London club he joined forces once more with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at lower division the Manchester club, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without much intensity. There are limited physical contests. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

International Recognition

He has demonstrated that growth for club and country, performing well for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including both legs games against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, offered the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his knack for a decisive through ball.

Early Days

This marks an incredible journey for the player from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who was raised observing his parent, Stuart, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

His sole appearance for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the stadium roof was sealed owing to the weather of -15C. "It was a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he says, grinning. "The week before, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and earn some playing time at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

How hard was it to leave United, the club he transferred from aged 16? "It was fairly simple, because I got to the stage where I understood I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it became apparent where I believed I required a fresh start, drop down the leagues and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

New Environment

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at 5pm: a learner's exam, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a regular in Swansea's dubbed fun bus, a small coach driven by team personnel, the drivers, which shuttles players to and from practice and games.

"My companions include a teammate, another squad member, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to interact with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the next one to stop using the bus and on the road. Franco enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

During his time at his former club, Galbraith would mix with fans on the Tube after beginning his trip at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
